Although a veteran school teacher and coach for thirty-seven years, Rick has been fly fishing for over forty-five years.

Today, Rick is active in 2 fishing clubs:

• HCFF (Hill Country Fly Fishers)
  (president 2006)
• FFF (Fredericksburg Fly Fishers).

Rick created FBG Outfitters to help promote fly fishing packages for his B&B. He also helped to establish a lease at Crabapple Creek for winter trout fishing, which has been featured in two television shows:

• Cabela's Americana Outdoors
• PBS's The New Fly Fisher featuring Rick as the guide.

Rick's love of fly fishing has compelled him to expand services. To follow his dream Rick retired completely from teaching and began devoting his time and efforts to providing a complete fly fishing service complete with a local guide, shop, and lodging for his clients.
